What you seeUsed a referral code, but the trading fee looks unchanged
Referral code entered but no fee discount: five checks on Binance
The fee on your order confirmation is the wrong place to look. Neither of Binance’s two referral modes is described on its official pages as a lower fee at the moment you trade. Referral Pro passes part of the referrer’s commission to you afterwards, converted to USDC and paid into your Spot Account. Referral Lite gives you Trading Fee Rebate Vouchers that you redeem in the Rewards Hub.
So the first move is to open your Spot Account history and the Rewards Hub. If either shows credits or vouchers, the referral is working. If both are empty, go through the five checks below in order. Any one of them is enough to explain an empty history.
Check 1: was the code bound at sign-up, and in which mode?
Binance’s registration page says that when you arrive through a referral link, the code is filled in automatically and a green tick with Linked appears next to it. An invalid code can be edited or replaced, but once a code is linked to the account it cannot be modified.
A new user can be referred through one mode only, and what you should be looking for depends on which:
- Referral Lite: the Lite FAQ sets two tasks within 14 days of registration, cumulative purchases of more than 50 USD through cash deposit, card or P2P, and cumulative trades of more than 100 USD through Spot or Convert. A voucher arrives within 48 hours of each task, up to 1,100 USD equivalent in total. You must complete identity verification to redeem, and redeem within 7 days in the Rewards Hub. Once activated, a voucher is valid for 14 days, and the fee rebate it produces is credited to your Spot Account by 23:59:59 the following day. Vouchers do not apply to API trading or trading bots.
- Referral Pro: no vouchers. You receive a share of the referrer’s commission, if the referrer chose to give one (check 2).
B-01On screenThe referral field was empty, or I did not see Linked
Then the account may have no referrer at all, and none of the other checks matter yet. If the account is under 30 days old and has had no deposit or trade, there is still a window: see signed up without a referral code. Older or active accounts have narrower official routes, set out in binding a referrer after sign-up.
Check 2: what share did the referrer set on that link?
The Referral Pro FAQ explains the split plainly: when you trade, the referrer receives the referral commission, and you receive the rebate “if the referrer chooses to share it”. The referrer makes that choice per link. When creating a Referral Pro link, step 2 is to set the Spot and Futures commission ratio for that particular link, and the FAQ adds that a link’s settings cannot be modified once it is created.
Two consequences follow. A link created with no share for referees gives you nothing, however much you trade. And because Spot and Futures ratios are set separately, a link can share on one and not the other. For Binance affiliates, the Binance Affiliate Program Starter Guide describes the referee side as up to a 20% rebate on Spot and Margin fees, so the share on any given link is the referrer’s choice up to that point.
B-02On screenI saw Linked, but not one credit has ever appeared
After check 3 has ruled out timing, this is the most direct explanation: the link may carry no share for referees. The referrer set the ratio when creating the link (Referral Pro FAQ, step 2), so ask them.
Check 3: when and how the share is paid
The Referral Pro FAQ says that since 13 February 2025 the default token for both the referrer’s commission and the share passed to referred users is USDC. After commission is generated, it is calculated and converted to USDC every hour, and the converted amount is deposited into “the user’s Spot Account” within 6 hours. The same FAQ tells referrers to download detailed records for rebate information older than 7 days.
One change affects the size of every payment. The Pro FAQ says commissions are now distributed on net fees, meaning transactional income after any applicable market maker rebates, from 29 April 2026 for Spot and 15 July 2026 for Futures.
A worked example with assumed numbers
Say you trade 10,000 USD on Spot and the fee is 0.1%. The fee is 10 USD. Say the link passes 20% of that back to you. Your share is 2 USD, paid later as USDC in your Spot Account, while the order itself still shows the full 10 USD fee. Both the 0.1% fee and the 20% share are assumptions for the arithmetic; your real rate and the real ratio on your link can differ.

Check 4: futures, sub-accounts and trades that do not count
Futures has extra conditions. The Pro FAQ sets out the rules that can switch the futures share off:
- You cannot activate a Futures Account with a referrer’s futures referral code unless you registered with that referrer’s Referral Pro code or link.
- The referrer earns futures commission only if they opened a Futures Account before you opened yours.
- Futures commission comes only from referrals at regular or VIP 1 to 2 level, and only for 12 months from the day the referral opens a Futures Account, unless the referrer passes the evaluation for a 30% or higher commission rate.
- As a referee, you stop receiving futures rebates when the inviter’s 1-year futures commission period expires, and they resume only if the inviter reaches 30% or more.
Other trades produce nothing to share. The Pro FAQ says no commission comes from trading that carries no trading fee, which covers zero-fee pairs, and that on Spot and Margin commission stops once the referred user reaches VIP 3. Trades in a sub-account do still count, but not as a separate referral: sub-accounts cannot invite anyone, and their trading commission goes to the master account’s referrer. When you ask about missing credits, give the master account’s UID.
B-03On screenSpot shares arrive, but nothing for futures
The referral itself is working, so the cause is one of the futures rules above, or a link created with a Spot share and no Futures share (check 2). Ask the referrer two things: the Futures ratio on your link, and whether their Futures Account was opened before yours. If both are in order, ask whether their 1-year futures period has ended.
Check 5: registered country and identity verification
A referral can be void before you place a single trade, because of the country you registered under. Binance’s Additional Notes page excludes users from the prohibited countries list and from restricted regions, Singapore residents, Binance FZE users and Binance Israel users. Users residing in Japan cannot be referred, and other users cannot receive rewards through a referral relationship with someone in Japan. UK retail users do not receive the commission, the retail programme was discontinued for users in Türkiye, neither side receives commission when the referee lives in Hong Kong, and from 1 July 2026 users registered in EEA countries cannot take part in any capacity.
The same page makes eligibility subject to identity verification. Until that is complete, Binance may restrict, suspend or deny referral benefits, including earning or redeeming rewards. For Lite mode, the FAQ separately requires verification before a voucher can be redeemed.
All five checks pass and still nothing: who to ask, and what
If the code showed Linked, your trades carried a fee, more than 6 hours have passed since the hourly conversion, and your country and verification are in order, the remaining questions can only be answered from the other side.
Ask the referrer first, because only their dashboard holds the answers. Ask what share for referees, Spot and Futures separately, the link you used carries. Ask whether your UID appears under My Referrals in Referral Pro. For futures, ask when they opened their own Futures Account.
If the referrer confirms a share above zero and sees your UID, use the chat on the official Binance website, and ignore anyone who contacts you first. Give your UID and registration date, and ask two things: whether the account has a referral relationship and in which mode, and whether any share was paid for a specific range of dates.
Questions people ask
How do I check whether my Binance referral code was applied?
At sign-up, Binance's registration page says a linked code shows a green tick and the word Linked. After that, look where the benefit is paid rather than at the order fee: USDC credits in your Spot Account for Referral Pro, or Trading Fee Rebate Vouchers in the Rewards Hub for Referral Lite. Your referrer can also look up your UID under My Referrals.
When is the Binance Referral Pro share paid?
The Referral Pro FAQ says that since 13 February 2025 the default token for both referrer commissions and the share passed to referred users is USDC. Commission is calculated and converted to USDC every hour, and the converted amount is deposited into the Spot Account within 6 hours.
Can I add or change the referral code after signing up?
Changing it is not possible: Binance's registration page says a linked code cannot be modified, and the Referral Pro FAQ says an established referral relationship cannot be changed or removed. Adding one to an account that has none is possible only under conditions, starting with being within 30 days of registration with no deposit or trading activity.
