Signed up for Binance without a referral code: what to do in the first 30 days

You can still add a referral code, but only inside a short window: Binance allows it within 30 days of registration, and only while the account has no deposit and no trading activity. So the first thing to do is stop. Make no deposit and no trade until the bind is done. The second is to check the date you registered.

Everything below follows the order you will meet it in, from the moment you notice the empty code field to the day it is safe to fund the account.

Today: stop, then count the days

The Referral Pro FAQ (question 4, “Can my referrals use my Referral Pro code/link after creating their Binance accounts?”) lists six conditions. All of them must hold. Four of them are already settled by the time you read this:

  • your KYC information has not been used on another account within the past 180 days;
  • the account has no existing referral relationship;
  • the account is a parent account, not a sub-account;
  • you are not flagged as a wash trader.

From the Binance Support page 'Referral Pro Mode FAQ': the 6 conditions a new user must all meet to bind a referral after registering. Captured October 2026.

The other two are the ones you can lose. One runs out on its own: you must be within 30 days of registration. The other you can break yourself, in a single step: the account must have no deposit or trading activity.

Keep the account empty until the bind is done

The page does not define which operations count as deposit or trading activity. This fixbook’s advice, given that gap, is to treat anything that puts money into the account, or swaps one asset for another, as off limits until the bind shows as complete. A small test deposit is still a deposit.

Work out your day count

Find the date you created the account and count forward 30 days. Plan to finish the bind well before the last day, not on it, and leave room to confirm the details with the person referring you.

The 30-day bind is closed to this account, because one of its six conditions is no deposit or trading activity. That does not end every option. Existing accounts have two other official routes with different conditions, including the Rebind application for verified master accounts with under 5,000 USD of volume in the last 90 days. Both are covered further down, in the section for accounts past day 30 or with activity. Until you have read that section, avoid trading more than you need to, since trading volume is one of the conditions there.

Before you bind: whose code, and what kind

Check first that you can be referred at all: Binance’s referral terms leave out, among others, users registered under EEA countries from 1 July 2026, Singapore residents, residents of Japan as referees and anyone on the prohibited countries list.

Then settle three things with the person whose code you plan to use.

Which mode the code belongs to. Binance runs two referral modes, Referral Lite and Referral Pro, and a new user can be referred through one mode only. Lite gives the referrer one-time voucher rewards. Pro gives the referrer a commission from your trading fees, and you receive a share only if they choose to share it. The after-registration bind in question 4 is written for a Referral Pro code or link. The Lite FAQ, for its part, says that when a Lite referral fails to bind, no corrective action can be taken once the new user has registered.

What share is set on that link. In Referral Pro, the referrer sets the commission ratio for each link when they create it, and once the link exists its settings cannot be modified. Binance’s affiliate guide puts the ceiling for affiliates at up to a 20% rebate on Spot and Margin fees. What you get is whatever was set on the link you use, and two links from the same person can differ.

That you are sure. Once the relationship is established, the Referral Pro FAQ says it “cannot be changed or removed”.

With 30 days on the clock, it is tempting to bind the first code you find. A wrong choice cannot be undone, while a few days spent asking which mode and what share cost you only time, as long as the account stays empty and you stay inside the 30 days. Within the window, choosing whose code to bind matters more than binding fast.

On the bind page: confirm it yourself

Go in from the Referral Pro FAQ itself, rather than through a bind link someone pasted in a chat. Log in to the account first, open question 4 of that FAQ, follow the link in its answer, enter the code and confirm. Compare the code character by character before you confirm.

If the bind page confirms the binding but your trades later show no fee discount, that is a separate problem, covered in Entered a referral code but see no fee discount.

B-02On screenThe bind page asks me to log in first

That is expected: the bind attaches to an account, so the page needs to know which one. Log in with the account you just registered, the parent account and not a sub-account, then return to question 4 of the Referral Pro FAQ and follow its link again.

B-03On screenI was sent a link, but no code

Ask for the code itself and enter it on the page you reach from question 4. A link copied from an affiliate’s Rebind Application belongs to a different route: Binance’s Rebind FAQ says a relationship made that way is established only after 150,000 USD of trading volume within 30 days. If the page you land on mentions a volume target, stop and go back to question 4.

Day 30 has passed, or the account has activity

Once either of those two conditions is broken, the 30-day bind is no longer available. Existing accounts have two other routes, the Affiliates Recall Program and the Rebind application, and their conditions on account age and recent activity are not the same as the 30-day bind. Both are set out in the guide for existing accounts, and the rebind self-check on this site goes through their conditions one question at a time.

Closing the account and signing up again does not reset the clock

A new account under the same identity would fail the first of the six conditions, because your KYC information would have been used on another account within the past 180 days.

When is it safe to make your first deposit?

When the bind page confirms the binding. Typing the code is not enough, so wait for that confirmation. From that point the relationship is established, the “no deposit or trading activity” condition has done its job, and a deposit can no longer cost you the bind.

Questions people ask

Can I add a referral code after signing up for Binance?

Yes, if all six conditions in Binance's Referral Pro FAQ hold: your KYC information has not been used on another account in the past 180 days, the account has no referral relationship, it is a parent account, you are within 30 days of registration, there has been no deposit or trading activity, and you are not flagged as a wash trader.

Does a deposit stop me from adding a Binance referral code?

For the 30-day bind, yes. One of the six conditions is that the account has no deposit or trading activity. Other routes for existing accounts have different conditions, such as the Rebind application for verified master accounts with under 5,000 USD of volume in the last 90 days.

Can I change the referral code later if I bind the wrong one?

No. The Referral Pro FAQ says that once the referral relationship has been established, it cannot be changed or removed. The share you receive is set on the referrer's link and cannot be edited either, so check whose code it is before you confirm.
